News Release: Fermeuse Energy Limited selects Dexter Construction and Harbourside Engineering for Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) of Marine and Spool Bases at Fermeuse Harbour

Fermeuse Energy Limited has announced its selection of Dexter Construction Company Limited and Harbourside Engineering Consultants for the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) of its Marine Base and Spool Base at Fermeuse Harbour. The infrastructure will play a crucial role in supporting the next frontiers of the energy sector in Newfoundland and Labrador, including low-carbon oil and gas and renewable wind-to-hydrogen projects.

Dexter Construction Company Limited is the largest heavy civil construction company in Atlantic Canada and a member of the Municipal Group of Companies, a recognized leader in heavy civil construction, waste management, logistics, and mining support services. The company’s proven expertise in infrastructure and vertical integration capabilities make it a valuable provider for the Marine Base and Spool Base project.

Dexter’s Ken Maclean said: “We are thrilled to be working with Fermeuse Energy on this unique and consequential opportunity. We look forward to bringing our expertise and resources to the table to deliver this project on time and on budget.”

Harbourside Engineering Consultants, one of the largest independently owned structural engineering firms in Atlantic Canada, specializes in the design, project management, and construction implementation of heavy civil infrastructure projects. The company’s emphasis on marine structures, construction engineering, bridges and buildings, combined with its commitment to providing exceptional service, make it a natural fit for the Marine Base and Spool Base project.

Speaking of Fermeuse Energy’s commitment to decarbonization, Harbourside Engineering’s  President, Robbie Frasier, said: “We are excited to be part of a leading-edge approach which challenges our experienced team of professionals to deliver harbour designs based on technologically advanced construction and operational standards that embrace environmental stewardship and promote decarbonization. We support Fermeuse Energy’s goals to incorporate Net Zero planning principles.”

Swapan Kataria, President of Fermeuse Energy Limited, is looking forward to working alongside Dexter and Harbourside. “This is important pre-construction planning work. Careful design – with inputs from future potential users – will lead to higher operational efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and an overall lower carbon footprint for the benefit of our clients and our communities. I am confident that the Dexter and Harbourside team will deliver the  modern and sustainable result that our customers and communities require.”
